When I was a teen, at this time there weren't many jobs around which would both pay well and address an individual respectfully. Picture being a fourteen-fifteen years old, with a decent amount of brains and a fraction of an inch of credibility under your belt. You're incredibly apt to be under compensated and worse yet under-appreciated.
What does this mean in terms of the employment market? Plainly put, fast food. I made a meager salary, put in the maximum amount of hours, and lived with fryer baskets frequently. Now, granted, I was young and foolish and assumed that given that I was earning dollars from, what did it matter what I did with fryer baskets or with plastic-type spatulas so long as I was bringing home income.
Not certain if this truly rings true. At the time, I hated it. It turned out hot and uncomfortable near to the deep fryer basket plus the cooking surfaces, I had little to no social life, as well as the hours were far too long. But, I managed to learn about the real world via that encounter. I learned that elements do not often come easy; you must really work on it sometimes to get through it. To endure is to find out and grow.
Now, despite all of the 'life lessons' morality takes on, I also came to some conclusions concerning myself right after a couple of years of reflecting on the experience. It is not conceit when I say that I'm better than this work. I'm light-years ahead of it, but certainly is the experience component coming into play. I am not fifteen years old and praying for a job - virtually any job.
I've come a long way ever since the fryer basket times, and I've learned a thing or two more concerning the world and ways to succeed devoid of needing to burn yourself making food for strangers. It won't have to be a challenge to carry out the things you love while still maintaining your individuality. The thing is actually, I never would have gotten here if I hadn't been through it.
